AS A JUNIOR (2015-2016): Came in second place in the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:12.29) against Bryant…Took fifth in the 200 yd. breaststroke (2:33.03) at the New England Catholic Invitational…Dropped almost 4 seconds and finished third in the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:08.61) against Williams…Came In second in the 200 yd. breaststroke (2:31.00) against Marist…Took second in the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:08.19) against BU…Finished in thirty-second place in the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:06.03) at the ACC Championships.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2-14-2015): Took twenty-fourth place overall in the 50 yd. freestyle (26.07) at the New England Catholic Invitational…Came in twenty-first place in the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:09.02) and eighteenth place in the 200 yd. breaststroke ((2:25.62) at the Terrier Invitational…Dropped 3 seconds and came in thirty second place in the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:06.03) at the ACC Championships…Totaled 9.00 points individually in dual meets for the season.
AS A FRESHMAN (2013-3014): Ali competed in both breaststroke events as well as sprint free and IM... Member of the travel squad for several meets including Bryant and Georgetown... Swam seasons bests in the 500 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, and 200 breaststroke at the Terrier Invitational... Competed in the C final in the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the Terrier Invitational... Received the Athletic Director's Award for Academic Achievement.
BEFORE BC: Ali attended Charlotte Catholic High School... Lettered all four years...Team Captain in 2013... All American 2012 and 2013... Newcomer of the Year in 2010... State record holder in the 200 medley relay in 2012... State runner-up in the 100 breaststroke in 2012...State record holder in the 200 free relay in 2013... USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.
PERSONAL: Ali is from Charlotte, North Carolina... She is the daughter of Gerry and Barb McDonough... She has one sister, Christen who is a senior at The University of Notre Dame and a member of the swim team... Ali swims for SwimMac Carolina.
