AS A JUNIOR (2016-2017): At the New England Catholic Invite, placed 20th in the 100 yard Freestyle and 22nd in the 100 yard Breaststroke…qualified for the 100 Breaststroke bonus final with a time of 1:08.36 at the Terrier Invite, finishing in 23rd place…placed 51st in the 100 yard freestyle at the and 68th in the 50 freestyle at the Terrier Invite…concluded her season at the Husky Invite, with a second place finish in the 100 yard Breaststroke, fourth place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke, and eighth place finish in the 100 yard freestyle.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2015-2016): Took 28th place in the 50 yd. freestyle (26.19) and twenty-first in the 100 yd. freestyle (56.73) at the New England Catholic Invitational…came in first place in the 50 yd. freestyle (26.35) against Bridgewater State…finished in sixth in the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:12.97) against Keene State…dropped four seconds and came in fourth in the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:08.97) against Williams.
AS A FRESHMAN (2014-2015): Came in twenty-ninth place overall in the 100 yd. freestyle (54.91) and twenty-fourth place in the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:09.24) at the Terrier Invitational…took sixth in the 50 yd. freestyle (26.53) against Maine and Vermont…holds 6.50 individual points in dual meets.
BEFORE BC: Varsity athlete all four years…Team captain 2013-2014 season…All-ISL Team 2011-2012 season…Co-MVP 2010-2012 and MVP 2012-2014…Rookie of the year as a freshman…METROS A Finalist in the 100 yd. breaststroke all four seasons…holds school records in the 100 yd. breaststroke, 100 yd. freestyle, 200 yd. medley relay and 400 yd. freestyle relay.
PERSONAL: Alexa is the daughter of Greg and Lisa Popera...has one sister, Ashleigh, and two brothers, John and Teddy…swims for her club team, the Rockville Montgomery Swim Club.
