AS A SENIOR (2018-19): Swam a personal best in the 50 Y breast with a time of 31.25… placed first in the 100 Y breast at the Boston Winter Open… placed third in the 50 Y breast against Tufts… placed third in the 100 Y breast against Marist ... named to the ACC Honor Roll.
AS A JUNIOR (2017-2018): Set personal bests in both the 50 yd. freestyle (24.14) and 100 yd. freestyle (53.25) at the ACC Championships ... at the Terrier Invitational, placed 14th in the 100 yd. breaststroke, setting a lifetime best time (1:06.76), 19th in the 50 yard freestyle (24.51), and 29th in the 100 yd. freestyle (53.51)…placed fifth in the 50 yd. freestyle in the dual meet vs. Boston University (24.91) ... placed third in the 50 yd. freestyle against MIT (25.02) ... placed third in both the 50 yd. freestyle (25.78) and 50 yd. breaststroke (33.54) vs. Tufts ... placed third in the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:07.48) vs. Williams...end of season honors include recipient of the Tom Groden Heart of an Eagle Award, honoring her for her heart and dedication to the program, and the Boston College Athletics Rising Leader Award …scored a total of 103.5 points her junior year…named to the ACC Honor roll.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2016-2017): Maria had a successful second season for the Eagles…Achieved three lifetime best times over the course of the year in the 100, 200, and 500 yard freestyle events…Took first place in the 50 yard freestyle (24.65) at the Husky Invitational, a collegiate best time…End of season honors include: Co-recipient of the Kevin Conway-Promises Fulfilled Award which honored her for her dedication to fulfilling her promises and pursuing her goals.
AS A FRESHMAN (2015-2016): Placed third in the 50 yd. breaststroke (34.50) against Bridgewater State…Placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.51) against Bryant…Came in second place in the 200 yd. freestyle relay (1:40.46) at the New England Catholic Invitational…Came in third place in the 50 yd. freestyle (25.86) against Keene State…Finished fourth in the 200 yd. freestyle relay (1:42.74) against BU and Providence…Had her fastest race of the season in the 50 yd. freestyle (25.42) against UConn for eighth place…Competed in 9 regular season meets as a freshman.
BEFORE BC: Attended Fox Lane High School. Received All-League Honors 2012-2014. Sectional Qualifier 2011-2014. NYPHSAA State Qualifier 2012-2014. Holds school record in 200 medley relay, 200 free relay and 400 free relay. Team captain for 2014 season. Club team captain 2013-2015. Team record holder in 8 events.
PERSONAL: Maria lives in Bedford, New York. She is the daughter of Diane and Steven Abrams and has one sister, Zoe, who is 23. Maria swam for her club team, Saw Mill Club Storm Aquatics, for nine years.
