FAQ & NIL RESOURCES
When any person or business/business entity outside of Boston College reaches an agreement with a Boston College
student-athlete to use that student's name, image, and/or likeness to promote that individual or that individual's business
(e.g., social media posts, appearances, events, autograph signings, other content creation, etc.) in exchange for
compensation of some type (e.g., cash, product, trade, access, etc.).
Yes! Third-party NIL opportunities can be made with any Boston College student-athlete.
Yes! Any business/business entity and/or individual can reach an NIL agreement with a student-athlete, provided certain
parameters are met.
Any NIL opportunity needs to have an agreement between the entity and the student-athlete. The agreement must, at a minimum, contain the parties to the agreement (e.g., the business and the student-athlete(s)), length of the agreement, compensation information, and student-athlete obligations under the proposed agreement. The agreement should be mutually beneficial to both parties!
There are a few ways to get involved with a Boston College student-athlete: 1. Email Colin Shaffer, Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and NIL, at shaffeco@bc.edu - he can help with all things NIL! 2. Navigate to the BC Athletics website and check out the rosters for each team where you can find the student-athlete's social media channels and send a message to the student directly. 3. Contact a member of the coaching staff for the team of the student-athlete(s) - all contact information can be found on the BC Athletics website. 4. Visit the Opendorse Marketplace by clicking here - search for a student-athlete and start setting up the opportunity!
YES! Boston College can help with everything related to third-party NIL. This includes connecting a business and a student-athlete, aiding with contract creation (including student-athlete deliverables), ensuring other NCAA requirements are met for NIL activities, answering questions, and anything else that could be part of the NIL opportunity!
