AS A SENIOR (2017-2018): Named to the ACC Honor Roll.
AS A JUNIOR (2016-2017): Competed primarily in Butterfly events throughout his junior year…at the Terrier Invite, placed 16th in the 200 yard Butterfly with a time of 1:55.03, 36th in the 200 yard Freestyle with a time of 1:48.47, and 37th in the 100 yard Butterfly with a time of 53.03…selected as a member of the travel squad for the Williams dual where he placed 4th in the 200 yard Butterfly…concluded his season at the Husky Invite with a 1st place finish in the 200 yard Butterfly and a third place finish in the 100 yard Butterfly, with a season-best time of 52.75.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2015-2016): Came in 9th place in the 100 yd. butterfly (55.99) in his college swimming debut at the New England Catholic Invitational…took 24th overall in the 200 yd. butterfly with a time of 1:57.92 at the Terrier Invitational…came in seventh in the 100 yd. butterfly (53.07) and fourth in the 200 yd. butterfly (1:58.99) at the Husky Invitational…competed in 9 meets as a freshman.
BEFORE BC: Attended Kingwood High School, lettered all four years, Team Captain 2014, All-State 2014, All-Region 2013 and 2014, All-American Honorable Mention 2013 and 2014.
PERSONAL: Fernando is from Mexico City, Mexico, but has lived in Kingwood, TX for the past 8 years...he is the eldest son of Fernando and Maaike Saenz....majoring in Finance and Information Systems in the Carroll School of Management...has two younger siblings, Gerardo (19) and Renata (18)....swam for his local club team, Blue Tide Aquatics...qualified for Southern Zone Sectionals for four years and has also been highly ranked in several triathlons..enjoys hanging out with friends, grilling, going to concerts, and outdoor activities, when not in the pool or in the classroom.
