AS A JUNIOR (2015-2016): Came in third in the 50 yd. freestyle (25.30) against Bryant…Finished in second in the 200 yd. freestyle relay (1:40.46) and in first in the 400 yd. freestyle relay (3:37.71) at the New England Catholic Invitational…Took third place in the 50 yd. freestyle (24.94) at the Thomas Murphy Invitational…Came in third place in the 200 yd. breaststroke (2:34.23) against Keene State…Finished in fifth place in the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:11.46) against Marist…Took third place in the 200 yd. Freestyle relay (1:39.79) at the Dartmouth Invitational…Came in fifty-eighth place overall in the 50 yd. freestyle (24.48) at the ACC Championships…Holds season’s best dual meet times in the 200 yd. medley relay (1:48.09), 200 yd. freestyle relay (1:37.31) and 400 yd. freestyle relay (3:31.52).
AS A SOPHOMORE (2014-2015): Took sixth place in the 50 yd. freestyle (25.20) at the New England Catholic Invitational…Finished in seventh place in the 50 (24.26) and seventeenth place in the 100 (52.90) yd. freestyle at the Terrier Invitational…Came in first place in the 100 yd. freestyle (54.88) against Keene State…Finished in sixth place in the 100 yd. backstroke (1:03.47) against Williams…Competed in the ACC Championships…Holds a season’s best dual meet time in the 200 yd. freestyle relay (1:38.49) from the Keene State meet.
AS A FRESHMAN (2013-2014): Was a member of the travel team... Swam in the B final in the 50 Free and achieved a personal best in the B final in the 200 Breast at the 2013 Terrier Invitational... Was a member of the 200 Freestyle A relay at the Terrier Invitational... Was a member of the ACC Conference Championship team and swam the 50 Free, 100 Free, and 100 Breast... Earned the 2013-2014 Athletic Director’s Award for Academic Achievement.
BEFORE BC: Attended Northwest Catholic High School and was a member of the varsity swim team all four years... Team captain senior year... High Honor Roll... National Honors Society. Scholar Athlete Award 2012-2013... 3 time YMCA national qualifier, 2 time Supersectional Qualifier... Coach's Award 2012... Two time individual high point at the Splash Championship.
PERSONAL: From Avon, CT. Parents- Tom and Letha Kunkel. Brother Robby Kunkel who is a junior at University of Chicago. Sister- Laura who will be a freshman at Northwest Catholic High School. Swam with the Wheeler Regional YMCA and Charter Oak Aquatic Swim Club.
