AS A JUNIOR (2015-2016): Took fourth in the 100 yd. butterfly (55.54) against Bryant…Took first place in the 200 yd. freestyle relay (1:25.99) and sixth in the 100 yd. butterfly (54.25) at the New England Catholic Invitational…Came in fourth in the 200 yd. freestyle (1:51.16) against Bridgewater State…Came in sixth in the 200 yd. backstroke (2:04.29) against Marist…Took second in the 200 yd. IM (1:55.58) at the UConn Open.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2014-2015): Came in ninth place in the 200 yd. freestyle (1:50.85) at the New England Catholic Invitational…Took twenty-fifth in the 100 yd. freestyle (48.00) at the Terrier Invitational…Came in eleventh in the 100 yd. backstroke (57.56) at the Thomas Murphy Invitational…Totaled 17.00 individual points in dual meets for the season.
AS A FRESHMAN (2013-2014): Brett collected a total of four first place finishes, three individual and one relay, in his first season...Bonzell was one of the Eagles most impressive Backstroke swimmers...Brett's best time came late in the season at the UConn Open where he registered a 1:53.53 in the 200 yard Backstroke event...Bonzell was selected to travel to the ACC Championships in Greensboro, NC.
BEFORE BC: Attended Folsom High School in Folsom, CA... lettered all four years... team captain senior year... All-League... Sierra Nevada Swimming Athlete Scholar award... AP Scholar... holds school records in the 100 butterfly, 50 freestyle, 200 medley relay, and 200 freestyle relay... two year team high point winner... member of Sierra Marlins Swim Team... 2012 Sierra Nevada Swimming Long Course Top 3 IMX... chosen as a USSwimming 2013 Academic All-American
PERSONAL: Bret is from Folsom, CA... he is the son of Eric and Lynn Bonzell... he has a brother, Garrett, and a sister, Lauren... Bret plays saxophone in his school's jazz band, which has twice won Downbeat Magazine's award for best jazz band in the country
