AS A SENIOR (2015-2016): Took second place in the 200 yd. medley relay (1:52.81) and third in the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:12.49) against Bryant…Took first place in the 400 yd. medley relay (4:04.88) at the New England Catholic Invitational…Dropped 3 seconds in the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:09.53) to finish in fifth place at the Thomas Murphy Invitational…Came in second place in the 200 yd. breaststroke (2:33.45) against Keene State…Dropped almost 5 seconds off of her 200 yd. breaststroke (2:28.69) for fourth place against BU and Providence…Came in thirty-third place in the 100 yd. breaststroke with her best time of the season (1:08.09) at the ACC Championships.
AS A JUNIOR (2014-2015): Totaled 63 points scored in dual meets…Finished the season with 2 dual meet first place finishes…Took second place in the 200 yd. breaststroke (2:32.53) against Tampa…Finished in fourth place in the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:11.44) against Marist…Finished in fifth place with her best time of the season in the 200 yd. breaststroke (2:31.11) against BU and Colgate.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2013-2014): Sam was the breaststroker on the 200 medley relay at the ACC Championship Meet that set a new BC school record...joined with Maddie Malliard (back), Jordan Perry (fly), and Maureen Barron (free), with a time of 1:46.09. Overall, Sam scored a total of 227 points this season, including 7 first place finishes... was awarded outstanding performances at the New England Catholic Invite, the Cornell meet, the Terrier Invite, the Marist meet, the Dartmouth Invite, the Boston University meet, and the ACC Championships... She was also awarded the Athletic Director's Academic Achievement Award.
AS A FRESHMAN (2012-2013): Sam was awarded the 2013 Harold M. Groden, MD Award for her Outstanding Performance in the 200 Breaststroke at the Dartmouth Invite... Named as Boston College's Outstanding Performer at the New England Invite, The Terrier Invite, The George Mason/Towson Meet, The Meet against Marist, and the Dartmouth Invite... Sam was selected for the BC ACC Championship Team.. competed in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke and the 200 IM at ACC's... Sam's personal best of 2:22.77 in the 200 breaststroke at ACC's was the team best for 2013... Overall, she scored 245 points for the team this year... was a recipient of the Athletic Director's Academic Achievement Award.
BEFORE BC: Sam attended Scarborough High School in Maine and swam 3 years for the high school team and 11 for her club team, Coastal Maine Aquatics... She was a captain for her club team senior year and was awarded the Jamie Higgins Sportsmanship award... Sam qualified and competed in 5 sectional meets and a Grand Prix Series Meet... She was awarded MVP and Most Outstanding Swimmer award through her high school team... Sam is the school record holder in the 100 Breaststroke... also participated in the school band, academic decathlon, and helped found the Interact Club, a volunteering organization.
PERSONAL: Sam is the daughter of Mary Jane and Richard Couillard... Her sister is Beth, a graduate of Lehigh University and an Environmental Engineer in Pennsylvania... Her brother is Matt, a senior at Johns Hopkins University... Sam is a student of the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in biology.
