AS A SENIOR (2018-19): Swam a season best in the 50 Y Free with a time of 24.51… swam a personal best in the 50 Y Fly with a time of 27.23… swam a season best in the 100 Y Fly with a time of 59.03… won the 100 Y Fly at the Boston Winter Open ... named to the ACC Honor Roll.
AS A JUNIOR (2017-2018): Competed in the ACC Championships, placing 55th in the 200 yd. freestyle (1:56.80), 59th in the 100 yd. freestyle (53.45), and 62nd in the 50 yd. freestyle (24.05) ... at the Terrier Invitational, placed 17th in the 50 yd. freestyle (24.23), 30th in the 200 yd. freestyle (1:56.83), and 33rd in the 100 yd. freestyle (53.60)…placed fourth in both the 50 yd. freestyle (24.66) and 100 yd. freestyle (53.67) vs. Boston University ... placed fourth in the 100 yd. freestyle (55.68) and fifth in the 50 yd. butterfly (27.63) vs. Tufts ... placed second in both the 50 yd. freestyle (25.01) and 100 yd. freestyle (54.71) vs. Marist ... placed third in the 50 yd. freestyle (24.57) and fifth in the 100 yd. freestyle (53.97) vs. Williams ... placed fourth in both the 50 yd. freestyle (25.20) and 100 yd. freestyle (54.66) vs. George Washington ... placed fourth in the 50 yd. freestyle (25.44) vs. Loyola (MD) ... placed fourth in both the 50 yd. freestyle (25.43) and 100 yd. freestyle (55.37) vs. Bryant ... named to the ACC Honor Roll.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2016-2017): Began the season a few weeks late due to a tonsillectomy…Competed in every dual and championship season meet…At the ACC Championships, went 24.13 in 50 yard Freestyle, 53.15 in the 100 yard Freestyle, went 1:55.10 in the 200 yard Freestyle, split 23.81 in the 200 yard Freestyle Relay, split 52.60 in the 400 yard Freestyle Relay, split 1:55.08 in the 800 yard Freestyle Relay…Scored a total of 174.25 points her sophomore year…End of season honors included: Shwartz Award of Excellence for practicing simple disciplines every day.
AS A FRESHMAN (2015-2016): Came in second place in the 50 (25.10) and third in the 100 (55.04) yd. freestyle against Bryant…Came in second place in the 200 yd. medley relay (1:51.65) and the 100 yd. butterfly (59.16) at the New England Catholic Invitational…Took third in the 200 yd. freestyle (1:59.79) against Keene State…Came in fourth in the 400 yd. freestyle relay (3:28.86) at the Terrier Invitational…Placed fourth but dropped 3 seconds in her 200 yd. freestyle (1:56.31) against Williams…Competed in 10 regular season meets as well as the ACC Championships as a freshman…Holds a best dual meet times of the season in the 400 yd. medley relay (4:00.78), the 200 yd. freestyle relay (1:37.31) and the 400 yd. freestyle relay (3:31.52).
BEFORE BC: Attended Villa Maria Academy High School for Girls in Malvern, PA and swam varsity all four years. She and her team won four consecutive State championships. She collected a total of 9 gold State medals from her relays and five individual bronze over four years. Team captain in 214-15 senior year.. All-State in 2015, 2014, 2013, and 2012... All-American Honorable Mention in 2012 and 2015... She knows she was really lucky to be on such a motivated and talented team that helped her love the sport.
PERSONAL: Julie is from West Chester, Pennsylvania...she is the daughter of John and Kathy Dobson...She has a brother, Zach (24) , older Sister Mary Anne (22), younger sister Claire (17), and a golden retriever Bailey (7)...Julie swims for her club team "GRA" which is through West Chester University...She hopes to study medicine and participate in mission trips during her collegiate years while having a fun swimming career.
