Eagles Complete Day One of Rutgers Invitational

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — The Boston College Swimming & Diving team completed the first day of the Rutgers Invitational, Friday evening, with three first-place finishes from transfer Josh Bedford and freshmen Knox Noble and Quincy Topping.
In Bedford's first meet as an Eagle, he swam a winning time of 4:31.74 in the men's 500 freestyle, almost three seconds ahead of second place. After setting a school record in the 100 IM at the Maroon & Gold meet, freshman Quincy Topping finished with a time of 1:47.14 in the men's 200 IM. Fellow freshman Michael Zhou came in second (1:49.32).
On the diving side, Knox Noble placed first in the men's 3-meter (284.33), as the lone Eagle in the event.
The Eagles also saw second-place finishes in the men's 200 freestyle relay and the women's 200 IM as Caroline Kilty finished with a time of 2:03.64, with Grace Petrakis right behind her in third. Kilty's time placed her fourth in program history in the event. In the women's 200 IM, Boston College had six of the top seven finishers. Demir Ayrikaya's 50 freestyle time also placed him second in the event.
Boston College will finish the Rutgers Invitational tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 10. The first session of the day starts at 10 a.m., while the second will commence at 4 p.m.
