AS A SENIOR (2018-19): Swam a season best in the 50 Y Back with a time of 29.90… placed tenth in the 200 Y Back at the Boston Winter Open ... named to the ACC Honor Roll.
AS A JUNIOR (2017-2018): Competed primarily in backstroke events throughout the season…set three season-bests at the Terrier Invitational in the 50 yd. freestyle (26.58), 100 yd. backstroke (1:01.35), and 200 yd. backstroke (2:14.50) ...at the Boston Winter Open, placed 7th in the 200 yd. backstroke (2:15.78) and 9th in the 100 yd. backstroke (1:01.48)…placed third in the 50 yd. freestyle (27.02) and fourth in the 50 yd. backstroke (30.27) vs. Bridgewater State ... named to the ACC Honor Roll.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2016-2017): Swam the 100 yard and 200 yard Backstroke events at several dual meets throughout the season…At the New England Catholic Invite, placed 14th in the 200 yard Backstroke and 18th in the 100 yard Backstroke…Qualified for the 200 yard Backstroke Bonus Final at the Terrier Invitational with a time of 2:11.82, and placed 28th in the 100 yard Backstroke with a time of 1:00.01.
AS A FRESHMAN (2015-2016): Competed in the 200 yd. IM (2:24.91) at the New England Catholic Invitational, defeating her seed time by almost five seconds…Came in second place in the 200 yd. medley relay (1:59.44) against Bridgewater State… finished in ninth place in the 100 yd. backstroke (1:01.86) against Williams…Came in fifth place in the 200 yd. backstroke (2:18.08) at the UConn Invitational…Competed in 5 regular season meets as a freshman.
BEFORE BC: Attended Loyola Academy... Varsity letter all four years...team won the Illinois Girls State Championship in 2014, first time in school history…Spirit captain in 2014...Most Improved her freshman year...team MVP (JV) in 2013...conference swimmer of the year (JV) in 2014…member of Dumbach Honors Society and Spanish Honors Society … graduated Summa Cum Laude… Illinois State Scholar… Academic All American.
PERSONAL: Elizabeth is from Wilmette, IL...She is enrolled in the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences, where she is pursuing a major in Communications and a minor in American Studies…Elizabeth is the daughter of Barb and Chris Canning (A&S ’85)..She has one brother, Christopher (19) who is a sophomore at the University of Michigan and is a nationally ranked, All-State and All American diver...Elizabeth swims for her club team, the NASA/Wild at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.
