Eagles Wrap Up Regular Season at Boston Winter Open

The swim and dive team set program records in their final regular competition of the season
BOSTON – The Boston College swimming and diving team wrapped up their regular season competitions with a statement at the two-day Boston Winter Open, hosted by Boston University.
Highlighting the meet for the Eagles is two program-records set in impressive fashion: junior Lauren Quinn took the 100-yard individual medley in 58.60, shattering the previous record set by Katie McCann '05 by over a full second. Freshman Sam Roche took a half of a second off of senior Taylor Cortens' previous record in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 48.49.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Lauren Quinn (2.07:19), Dakota Meyer (2:07.28) and Erika Freeman (2:07.69) swept the top three finishes in the 200-yard individual medley.
- Caroline Even placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a 57.10 finish.
- Dakota Meyer recorded a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:06.58.
- Kelsey Holmes placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.01.
- Mackenna Buchanan placed first in both the 3-meter dive (253.95) and the 1-meter dive (267.60).
- Erika Freeman placed second in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in 1:54.52.
- Sydney Dacey (2:08.10) and Mary Fitzsimmons (2:08.24) took the top two finishes in the 200-yard backstroke.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Denis Reznik (4:36.33), Will Suchy (4:38.07) and Griffin Taylor (4:45.80) placed second, third and fourth, respectively, in the 500-yard freestyle.
- Taylor Cortens earned a first-place finish with a 55:31 final time in the 100-yard breaststroke. Sami Fares (56.77) and Peter Shepanzyk (58.12) placed second and third.
- Sam Roche's program record-setting 48.49 in the 100-yard backstroke earned a first-place finish in the event.
- Ryan Price (4:01.98) and Matt DeNave (4:08.21) placed second and third in the 400-yard individual medley.
- Paul Boyce placed first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.04 while Michael Spence placed third in 21.19.
- Alex Shehab placed first in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 1:48.95.
- Taylor Cortens placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:02.15 while Lucas Saliba followed closely behind, finishing for second place in 2:06.95.
- Arthur Hidalgo placed first in the 1650-yard freestyle, coming in at 16:24.93. Matthew Amedeo placed second in 16:31.84.
- Sam Roche (46.15) and Max Threlkeld (46.20) placed second and third in the 100-yard freestyle.
