AS A JUNIOR (2018-19): Swam a personal best in the 50 Y Breast with a time of 26.44… made it to the finals in the 100 Y Breast and 200 Y Breast at the ACC Championships… placed third in the 50 Y Breast versus Tufts… placed third in the 100 Y Breast against Boston University.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2017-2018): Competed primarily in breaststroke events… won the 100 yd. breaststroke (57.21), marking the 10th fastest time in program history, and placed 4th in the 200 yd. breaststroke (2:06.83) at the Boston Winter Open…at the Terrier Invitational, placed 11th in the 200 yd. breaststroke (2:08.75) and 12th in the 100 yd. breaststroke (57.81)…placed fourth in both the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:01.45) and 200 yd. breaststroke (2:18.34) vs. Tufts ... placed third in the 100 yd. breaststroke (59.36) and fourth in the 200 yd. breaststroke (2:12.28) in a dual-meet with Williams ... won the 100 yd. breaststroke (1:01.09) vs. Keene State ... named to the ACC Honor Roll.
AS A FRESHMAN (2016-2017): Made significant contributions to the men’s team’s breaststroke program…at the Terrier Invite, qualified for the Championship Final of the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:08.30, and placed 13th in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 58.22…traveled to the Williams meet where he placed sixth in both the 100 yard breaststroke and 200 yard breaststroke…finished his season at the Husky Invite where he placed second in the 100 yard breaststroke and fourth in the 200 yard breaststroke…scored a total of 90.5 points his freshman year.
BEFORE BC: Attended Hawken High School, received six varsity letters (four in swimming, two in tennis), two time state qualifier in the 100 breast and one time qualifier in the 200 IM. Finished third at the state meet senior year and led team to second ever state runner up finish. Northeast Ohio District Champion. Received first team honors for the Chagrin Valley Conference, News Herald, and Plain Dealer. Chagrin Valley All Academic Award Recipient. Chagrin Valley Conference Champion in the 200 Medley Relay and 100 breast, runner up in the 200 IM. Member of the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins National Team.
PERSONAL: Sami is from Lakewood Ohio. He is the son of Maan and Hanan Fares and has a sister named Sarah. In his free time he loves to go fishing and work on old cars. He swims for the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins.
