Eagles Finalize Undefeated Home Meets with 2-0 Weekend

The swim and dive team topped Marist in their final home meet of the season
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Following a win over Dartmouth on Friday night, the Boston College swim and dive team topped Marist Saturday afternoon to cap off an undefeated record for their final season in the Flynn Recreation Complex Pool. Continuing into next year, the Eagles' home pool will be in the new Connell Recreation Center.
The women's team secured the win with an impressive 224-76 margin while the men's team held a 169-129 advantage. The team combined for 22 first-place finishes out of the 32 events of the day.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS:
 - The team of Maura Grimes, Taylor Covington, Victoria Lin and Ali Kea earned first place in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing in 1:47.50. Grace Edwards, Anna Milia, Ina Elcott and Haley Dolan took second in the same event with a time of 1:48.86.
- Ali Kea took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.66. Aileen Coyne held second with a 1:57.38 finish, while Erika Freeman took third in 1:59.34.
- Maura Grimes won the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 58.23. Victoria Lin (1:00.05) and Katherine Karle (1:01.32) finished second and third, respectively.
- Taylor Covington (1:06.50), Anna Milia (1:09.50) and Maria Abrams (1:10.26) swept the top-three finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke.
- Isabel Blaze (2:10.70), Sarah Hanning (2:13.07) and Maria Russo (2:15.03) found similar results in the 200-yard butterfly.
- Haley Dolan (24.09), Julie Dobson (25.30), Ashleigh Scott (25.34) placed first through third in the 50-yard freestyle.
- Ellie Uhl placed first in the 3-meter dive with a score of 250.12 while Gabriella Taghian placed third with 234.52 points.
- Ali Kea (53.10), Ashleigh Scott (53.75) and Lauren Quinn (55.28) swept the top spots in the 100-yard freestyle.
- Grace Edwards (2:08.36) and Natalie Dalla Riva (2:10.41) placed first and second, respectively, in the 200-yard backstroke.
- Alexa Lantin (2:27.16) and Taylor Covington (2:27.92) placed first and second in the 200-yard breaststroke.
- Kristina Fecarotta placed first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:12.89.
- Victoria Lin (58.78), Ina Elcott (58.80) and Ashleigh Scott (59.69) placed first through third in the 100-yard butterfly.
- Makenna Buchanan placed second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 227.17.
- Natalie Dalla Riva (2:12.80), Erika Freeman (2:14.29) and Grace Edwards (2:14.77) swept the top three spots in the 200-yard individual medley.
- Two Eagle relay teams filled the top spots in the 400-yard freestyle: Ashleigh Scott, Maura Grimes, Haley Dolan and Ali Kea (3:35.96); Victoria Lin, Aileen Coyne, Julie Dobson and Lauren Quinn (3:39.04).
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Taylor Cortens, Billy Miller, Colin O'Leary and Colin Derdeyn placed first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:33.67. The team of Talmage Corey, Charles Kleinsmith, Damion Ribeiro and Kevin Chandra placed second in 1:34.97.
- Michael Hinton placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:44.38.
- Taylor Cortens (57.03), Billy Miller (58.93) and Sami Fares (59.09) placed first through third in the 100-yard breaststroke.
- Colin O'Leary placed first in the 200-yard butterfly with a 1:54.34 finish.
- Taylor Cortens (2:05.37) and Peter Shepanzyk (2:10.14) placed first and second in the 200-yard breaststroke.
- Will Suchy placed first in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 4:51.41.
- Colin Derdeyn placed first in the 100-yard butterfly with a 52.27 finish.
- Taylor Cortens placed first in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing in 1:54.48.
- The team of Michael Hinton, Colin Derdeyn, Kevin Chandra and Max Threlkeld placed first in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:07.88.
The Eagles continue their season with a dual-meet at Tufts on Sunday, Jan. 20.Â
