AS A JUNIOR (2018-2019): Made consistent contributions to the program in sprint and mid-distance freestyle events while dabbling in some stroke events throughout the year… competed in all travel meets and made third straight Atlantic Coast Conference Championship team… at the Terrier Invitational had the highest team finish in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 200 freestyle as well as contributions to Terrier Invite winning 800 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay…competed in both the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay at conference championship meet going best times in both the 50 free (20.84 flat start, 20.00 relay start) and 100 freestyle (45.79 flat start)… marked the fastest reaction time in the conference recording .58 seconds to get off the block in the 50 freestyle.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2017-2018): Had an outstanding sophomore season, where he competed as a member of the ACC Championships team…at the ACC Championships, placed 51st in the 200 yd. freestyle (1:41.64), 53rd in the 50 yd. freestyle (21.04), and 54th in the 100 yd. freestyle (46.28)…at the Terrier Invitational, placed 6th in the 100 yd. freestyle (46.24), 9th in the 50 yd. freestyle (21.01), setting the 10th fastest time in program history, 12th in the 200 yd. freestyle (1:42.87), and 16th in the 100 yd. backstroke (52.75), setting the 10th fastest time in program history during prelims (51.50) …at the dual meet vs. Williams, won the 100 yd. freestyle (47.02) and placed 2nd in the 200 yd. freestyle (1:43.15)…at the dual meet vs. Boston University, placed 2nd in the 100 yd. freestyle (47.45) and 3rd in the 200 yd. freestyle (1:44.61)…scored a total of 277 points his sophomore year…named to the ACC Honor Roll.
AS A FRESHMAN (2016-2017): Made major contributions to the program in sprint and middle-distance Freestyle events…competed in all travel meets including the Chicago meets, Williams dual, and ACC Championships…at the Terrier Invite, qualified for the Consolation Final in the 500 yard Freestyle and 200 yard Freestyle with times of 4:39.84 and 1:42.72, respectively, and placed 17th in the 200 yard Backstroke with a time of 1:53.42…at the Williams dual, placed 2nd in the 200 yard Freestyle and 6th in the 200 yard Backstroke…concluded his season at the ACC Championships with 43rd, 44th, and 45th finishes in the 500 yard, 100 yard, and 200 yard Freestyle events, with season-best times of 4:34.42, 46.18, and 1:40.37, respectively…scored a total of 176 points.
BEFORE BC: Attended Heritage High School in Littleton, Colorado...Heritage High School Wall of Fame Inductee…lettered all four years….Team Captain in 2016…Team MVP in 2014, 2015 and 2016…..Two-time All-American in 2016, and Scholastic All-American in 2015 and 2016….named 2016 Continental League Swimmer of the Year and 2016 Coaches’ Invitational Swimmer of the Meet…awarded U.S. Army National Scholar Athlete…USA Junior National Qualifier for ACES Swim Club.
PERSONAL: Michael is from Littleton, Colorado….he is the son of Darren and Leslie Hinton…he has one sister, Mary (23) former University of Notre Dame swimmer …. Co-President of the Saint Thomas Moore Society and former member of the Emerging Leaders Program... enrolled in the Carroll School of Management.
