2003 Season
Took over kicking duties vs. West Virginia when Sandro Sciortino sat out with a right groin pull...key member of BC special teams as holder...played in all 13 games...scored nine points, connecting on nine of 10 PATS...suffered a life-threatening injury to his larynx when he was 10 years old in a freak accident playing indoor baseball; determined to play football but told not to play contact sports, he practiced, studies and worked to become a kicker and holder.
2002 Season
Key member of BC special teams as holder...handled onside kick duty late in Virginia Tech game...scored the first points of his career when he ran in the snap for a two-point conversion in the Navy game.
2001 Season
Did not see any action and was redshirted.
High School
Played one year at Brophy High School before transferring to Don Bosco Prep...was a placekicker and a punter at Don Bosco...collected four field goals in his senior season...during his senior season, played in New Jersey state championship at Giants Stadium...an All-League selection...member of the student council...earned first honors academic achievement during junior season...also played basketball...played his high school football for coach Greg Toal, father of BC junior fullback Greg Toal.

Michael Fassel, born June 19, 1981...enrolled in the Carroll School of Management...son of Kitty and Jim Fassel...has two older brothers, Jay, John and Brian, and an older sister, Jana...father Jim is the former head coach of the New York Giants (now with the Baltimore Ravens) while brother John played professionally for the Indianapolis Colts.
