Had an outstanding game vs. Wake Forest in the season opener; threw a key block that enabled Matt Ryan to throw a 38-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter...Ryan finished with five touchdown throws in that game...started the first seven games and was on his way to an all-star season before injuring his Achilles in the Notre Dame game and missing the rest of his senior season. 2006 Season
A second-generation BC football player, Ryan's father, Junior Poles, was a three-year starter for BC (1979-82) and also wore the number 72...started all 13 games at left guard ...paved the way for seven 100-yard rushing games and a collective 1,424 rushing yards by L.V.
