BC HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Trailing 6-0 and 8-1, the Eagles staged a valiant comeback effort that saw them score four straight goals and eight of the next 10 to battle against No. 3 North Carolina Saturday afternoon at the Newton Campus Lacrosse Field.Â
- Caroline Margolis and Kate Weeks led the Eagles with three goals apiece in the contest.
- Following Saturday's loss, the Eagles are now 2-13 all-time against North Carolina dating back to 1997, the first season the two teams first played each other. Saturday's loss also snapped an undefeated home record for the maroon and gold at the Newton Campus this season. Before today's game, BC was 3-0 at home with wins over Massachusetts, Navy and Syracuse.Â
- Saturday's game marked the fifth game this season that the Eagles have faced off against an opponent in the top-20 of the IWLCA poll. The Eagles had previously faced No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 17 Louisville and No. 2 Florida.Â
- Brooke Troy netted her first collegiate goal in the second half of Saturday's contest.
- Sophomore Kenzie Kent, a 2015 IWLCA Rookie Team member, saw her first action of the season, tallying two goals and two assists in the game. The Norwell, Mass. native is also a member of the Women's Ice Hockey team, who advanced to the National Championship game last weekend. Â
TURNING POINT
- After Kate Weeks tallied her second of the game on a feed from Kenzie Kent with 16:49 remaining in the game, which brought the Eagles deficit to within one, North Carolina notched back-to-back goals over the next two and a half minutes to stop the Eagles momentum. Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- North Carolina went up 8-1 in the first 24:21 of the game to get off to a hot start. Kenzie Kent tallied her first of the season during that span on a free position goal.
- Kent again tallied her second of the game on a feed from Sarah Mannelly to begin the streak of four straight goals for the maroon and gold in their effort to get back into the game.
- A Weeks goal and two goals from Caroline Margolis on either side of the break saw the BC deficit cut to three with 28:10 remaining in the game.Â
- After UNC got back, Sarah Mannelly got on the board with her 20th of the season and Brooke Troy netted her first collegiate goal to bring BC within two, 9-7.
- Tess Chandler and Weeks tallied the next four goals for BC before Caroline Margolis brought BC within one with an unassisted tally with 8:23 remaining.Â
