CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Boston College lacrosse fell to No. 2 seed Stanford, 14-7, on Wednesday evening in the quarterfinals of the ACC Women's Lacrosse Championship at American Legion Memorial Stadium.
The Eagles move to 9-7 on the season, while Stanford advances to the semifinals with a 14-3 record.
Marissa White led BC with three points, recording a team-high two goals and one assist. Giulia Colarusso (1G, 1A) and Molly Driscoll (1G, 1A) each added two points to round out the offense.
BC controlled the draw circle, 17-5, behind a career-high eight draw controls from Colarusso. Shea Baker and Abbey Herod each added three, while Avery Hudson recorded two. Colarusso and Baker also led the team with three ground balls.
Stanford opened the scoring before Caroline Chisholm netted her lone goal to even the game at 1-1. The Cardinal responded with a 5-0 run that carried into the second quarter.
The Eagles answered with back-to-back goals, capped by Driscoll, to cut the deficit to 6-3. Stanford countered with two straight to extend its lead, but Kylee Colbert closed the half with a behind-the-back finish to make it 8-4 at the break.
BC built momentum early in the third quarter as Lily Kondas and Colarusso scored on consecutive possessions to pull within two. That would be as close as the Eagles would get, as Stanford closed the game on a 6-1 run.
