Team USA Improves to 2-0 in 2026 World Lacrosse Championship

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Led by Boston College lacrosse head coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein, Team USA begins The Nissin Foods 2026 World Lacrosse Women's Championship held in Tokyo.
The Stars and Stripes will begin the road to a fifth straight title tomorrow at 8 p.m. ET against Ireland on World Lacrosse TV.
Representing the Eagles along with coach Walker are associate head coach Jen Kent, Shea Baker '26, Shea Dolce '26, Emma LoPinto '25, Sydney Scales '24, Cassidy Weeks '24, Charlotte North '22, Sam Apuzzo '19 and newly-hired assistant coach, Kenzie Kent '19.
Coach Walker was announced as the Senior National Team head coach in 2024, helping Team USA win multiple international tournaments leading up to the World Championship.
In addition, Hunter Roman '24 will play in the World Championship with Puerto Rico and Catherine Conway '12 is an assistant coach for Ireland.
Game 2 - USA 22, Haudenosaunee 5
- Team USA erupted for 22 goals in its highest scoring game since 2009 to improve to 2-0 in the World Championship.
- LoPinto helped the Stars & Stripes with four points, netting a pair of goals & assists.
- Kent registered two scores with a helper for three points, and Apuzzo found the back of the net once.
- Scales tallied a pair of caused turnover and Dolce posted three saves en route to being named Player of the Game.
- Through two contests, Dolce leads the tournament with a .70 save percentage (facing at least 10 shots).
- Team USA has outscored its first two opponents, 40-10, and returns to action on Tuesday morning at 5:30 a.m. against Chinese Taipei in the final game of pool play.
Game 1 - USA 18, Ireland 5
- The Stars and Stripes got off to a solid start with the 13-goal win in their first game of the World Lacrosse Women's Championship.
- It was a balanced effort with five players scoring multiple goals.
- Cassidy Weeks scored twice, while Sam Apuzzo, Emma LoPinto, and Kenzie Kent found the back of the net.
- Kent and Apuzzo tied for the team lead with two assists, as the co-captains tied for the team lead with three points apiece. Baker added an assist as well.
- Shea Dolce registered four saves and a .571 save percentage, playing the final two quarters of the contest.
- Sydney Scales totaled two caused turnovers and Baker tallied one CT.
- The Americans improved to 69-6-1 all-time and have won 31 straight games in world championship competition.
- Team USA returns to action at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday against the Haudenosaunee National Team.
