BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior wide receiver Bobby Swigert returned to the gridiron after missing two full seasons because of a knee injury sustained during the Notre Dame game in 2012 and he made two catches for 16 yards, including an 11-yard TD reception in the second quarter.Â
- Junior running back Tyler Rouse tallied two touchdowns with runs of 21 and 45 yards in the fourth quarter for the first multiple-TD game of his career. He led the way for the BC rushers, tallying 81 yards on eight carries.Â
- Sophomore quackerback Darius Wade threw his first career touchdown to Swigert in the first half. He was 14-for-25 with 155 passing yards.Â
- Senior defensive lineman Mehdi Abdesmad returned to the field after missing much of the 2013 and 2014 seasons due to injury and made 1.5 sacks for a loss of nine yards and totaled four tackles on the day.
KEY PLAYS
- With the game tied at three, Swigert made a diving catch in the end zone on an 11-yard throw from Wade to give BC the seven-point lead.Â
- The BC defense did not allow the Black Bears another score, holding them to just seven rushing yards and 91 total yards in the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Black Bears and Eagles traded field goals to start the game. Maine scored on a 39-yarder from Sean Decloux with 11:05 to go its first possession of the game. BC evened the score with 11:30 to play in the half on a 31-yard attempt by senior Alex Howell on an 18-play, 66-yard drive that lasted almost 10 minutes.Â
- Swigert ended the half with an 11-yard touchdown catch from Wade to put the Eagles up, 10-3. With 26 seconds to go, he made the diving catch in the end zone on a 10-play, 55-yard drive.Â
- Rouse made it a 14-point game with a 21-yard rushing touchdown with just under 14 minutes to play. He broke free of multiple tackles to put the Eagles up, 17-3. On the previous play, Wade rushed for 17 yards to set up the TD.Â
- On third-and-seven of Maine's next drive, sophomore defensive back Gabriel McClary tipped quarterback Dan Collins' pass and freshman defensive back William Harris recorded his first career interception to give the ball back to BC. On the second play of the drive at the 45-yard line, Rouse rushed into the end zone to give the Eagles a 24-3.
