Wolff’s Ninth Inning Home Run Lifts No. 22 Eagles over Notre Dame

Wolff hits two-run home run in the top of the ninth
Wolff finished 3-5 at the plate with two RBI, hitting his third home run of the weekend. Nick Wang hit his 14th home run of the season and 38th of his career, putting him into sole possession of third place in program history for home runs in a BC career. Gavin Soares pitched 3.1 innings of relief to pick up the win, allowing just one hit while striking out six.
The Eagles wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as in just the second at-bat of the game, Wag launched his 14th home run of the year to give BC a 2-0 lead.
After Notre Dame cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first off a solo home run by Drew Berkland, Boston College added runs in the second and third innings to take a 4-1 lead.
Carter Hendrickson hit an RBI double to center field in the second inning to send Colin Larson across the plate. In the third, Danny Surowiec hit a single through the infield to score Luke Gallo from second base.
The Fighting Irish scored three runs over the fourth and fifth innings to tie the game at 4-4 going into the sixth.
In the top half of the sixth, Ty Mainolfi was walked with the bases loaded to put the Eagles back in front, 5-4.
In the next half inning, Notre Dame took its first lead of the afternoon when Berkland hit his second home run of the day, this time for two RBI to take a 6-5 lead.
That lead held until the ninth inning, when Wolff hit a two-run home run to left field to put Boston College back in front, 7-6.
Up Next: The Eagles travel to UMass Lowell on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on America East TV.
