BRIGHTON, Mass. – Boston College Softball (22-27, 5-17 ACC) fell to the Stanford Cardinal (37-10, 14-8) by a score of 10-5 on Friday afternoon at the Harrington Athletics Village.
The visitors got out to an early 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning behind a two-run home run, an RBI double, and a two-RBI single. Hannah Slike got the Eagles on the board in the bottom of the inning, grounding out to second base, but driving in Emma Jackson to make things 5-1.
Stanford would add another run in the top of the second, and two more in the top of the third, making the score 8-1. In the bottom of the inning, Slike reached on a fielders' choice, which scored Tavye Borders, followed by Jordan Stephens scoring Emma Jackson with an RBI single.
The Cardinal added two more runs in the top of the fifth inning to extend the lead to seven. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Slike hit an RBI double which scored Jackson, followed by a Jordan Stephens sacrifice fly that scored Gator Robinson, but it was too little, too late, as the Cardinal would take game one of the series.
