Softball Adds Jared McDonald to Staff

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College softball head coach Beth Krysiak has announced the addition of Jared McDonald to the coaching staff as an assistant coach.
"We are excited to be welcoming Jared McDonald to the Heights! He understands hitting from every angle, as a professional player, a private instructor and as a Division I coach. His ability to connect with the athletes, detailed preparation and teaching ability are going to make an impact with our team immediately."
McDonald joins the Eagles after one season at Utah State, where he helped guide an offense that recorded 82 doubles and 48 home runs, including four grand slams. McDonald helped develop Mountain West All-Conference selection Kya Pratt, who posted top-10 single-season marks in doubles, total bases and hits, as well as Grace Matej, who ranked among the program's single-season leaders in home runs, RBI and total bases.
Prior to joining Utah State, McDonald spent four years as the coordinator of baseball/softball operations at the Illinois Bone & Joint Institute, where he oversaw staffing, player evaluation, development and programming. He also served as an account executive with Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment in Chicago from 2022-23, working with corporate sponsorships and sales.
McDonald brings an extensive playing background to the Heights. He began his collegiate career at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona, where he earned first-team All-American, all-region and all-conference honors in 2008. That season, he hit .467 with 16 doubles, five triples, 11 home runs and 41 RBI in 53 games, earning the Rawlings Big Stick Award. He was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 40th round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft before transferring to Arizona State.
At Arizona State, McDonald helped the Sun Devils to a 51-14 record and a third-place finish at the 2009 College World Series. Starting at shortstop, he appeared in 58 games before being selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 21st round of the 2009 MLB Draft.
McDonald spent 2009-11 in the White Sox minor league system at the Single-A level before playing eight seasons in independent leagues with seven different teams. In 2016, he set the all-time minor league record for consecutive games reaching base, appearing on base in 75 straight games with the Rockland Boulders.
Following his playing career, McDonald earned his bachelor's degree in technological entrepreneurship and management from Arizona State University in 2019.
