
Lacrosse Outlasts Stony Brook to Advance to Quarterfinals

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College lacrosse outlasted Stony Brook with a 10-7 triumph in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.
The Eagles advance to the national quarterfinals, where they will face No. 7 seed Yale next Thursday at Newton Lacrosse Field.
A 6-0 start for the Eagles set the tone early, with Emma LoPinto scoring three during the surge.
Stony Brook responded in the second quarter by slicing the gap to four with three minutes left in the half. Devon Russell sent the hosts into the break with a 7-2 halftime lead after a buzzer-beating free-position score.
The Seawolves continued to climb back in the third, going on a 4-1 run to come within two, 8-6, late in the fourth.
Clark stopped the momentum by scoring BC's final two goals, fending off the Seawolves for a 15th straight win at home when hosting the NCAA Tournament.
Shea Dolce posted nine saves with a .563 save percentage, while Shea Baker came away with five draw controls, three caused turnovers. Brooke McLoy stepped up off the bench with three draw controls and an assist.
LoPinto tallied four points, two ground balls and one caused turnover, while Clark scored four times. Three more Eagles scored in Mia Mascone, Kylee Colbert and Russell.
