Fencing Wraps Up Regular Season with Trip to North Carolina

Fencing competes at the Beguinet Classic and the Miller Invitational over the weekend.
DURHAM, N.C. – Boston College Fencing competed in two meets down in North Carolina over the weekend of Saturday, Feb. 8 and Sunday, Feb. 9. The Eagles traveled to Durham for the Beguinet Classic on Saturday, followed by the Miller Invitational on Sunday in Chapel Hill.Â
The Beguinet ClassicÂ
The Women's Fencing team competed at the Beguinet Classic on Saturday at Card Gym on the campus of Duke University. BC took part in five of seven rounds, compiling a record of 2-3.Â
Boston College earned team victories over Penn State and Johns Hopkins, and fell to NYU, Notre Dame, and UNC.Â
Women's Foil led the way earning a 4-1 overall record, including a 5-4 win to lift the Eagles past Penn State and a 6-3 victory to defeat John Hopkins.Â
Women's Epee earned a 8-1 over Penn State, and a dominant 9-0 win over Notre Dame. Â
The Miller Invitational
The Men's Fencing team traveled to the campus of the University of North Carolina on Sunday to compete at the Miller Invitational inside the Eddie Smith Field House.Â
Levi Hughes became the winningest Men's Fencer in school history when he won his 164th bout on Sunday afternoon.Â
Boston College rallied off two straight wins against NYU and Air Force in rounds 3 and 4 to earn their lone team victories at the invitational. The Eagles fell to Notre Dame, UNC and Penn State in rounds 1,2, and 5.
On the Men's side, Men's Foil led the way with a 4-1 record on the day. Men's Foil earned victories of 5-4 against NYU and 6-3 against Air Force to lift up the Eagles. Men's Epee also dominated with a 8-1 victory over Air Force. Â
Up Next: The Eagles will have a two week break until they return to action with the 2025 ACC Fencing Championships, which will be held Feb. 22-23 in Chapel Hill, N.C. Â
