Fencing Competes at ACC Championships

The Eagles finish in third place on both the Men's and Women's sides
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Boston College Men's and Women's Fencing teams competed at the 2025 ACC Fencing Championships over the weekend of Feb. 22-23 at Eddie Smith Field House on the campus of the University of North Carolina.Â
The Championship meet started on Saturday morning with the Women's individual pool play, which was followed by the semifinals and final bouts. Men's team events rounded out day 1 of the weekend. The action started back up on Sunday morning with the Men's individual pool play, and then the semifinals and final bouts later in the afternoon. The final day of the championship meet rounded out with the Women's team events.Â
Boston College finished with a 2-2 record on the Women's side, placing third overall. Notre Dame took home the Women's ACC Championship with a perfect 4-0 record. The Men's team finished in third place with a 1-3 record, and Notre Dame won the Men's ACC Championship.
On the Women's side, BC earned victories over North Carolina and Stanford, as was defeated by Duke and Notre Dame. The Eagles earned a 16-11 victory against UNC, led by two 6-3 wins by Women's Sabre and Foil. BC earned a close 14-13 victory over Stanford on Sunday, while the Eagles' Epee team won 9-0.Â
The Men's team earned their lone victory on Saturday against Stanford, 14-13. The Men's Sabre team defeated the Cardinal 8-1 to help sneak out the one point team win. BC would ultimately fall to Duke, UNC, and Notre Dame to end with a 1-3 team record.
Junyao Lu was the highest individual finisher for the Eagles on Saturday, as she placed fifth overall in Women's Epee out of 16 competitors. Ginevra Giordano placed seventh overall, while Laura Fekete finished ninth and Anisha Kundu finished 15th. Rachel Buhay led the way for BC during the Women's Sabre competition, placing ninth overall out of 18 competitors. Valeria Sourimto placed 14th overall and Artemis Christeas finished 17th, while Isabella Zielinski rounded out the Eagles participants with an 18th overall performance. During the Women's Foil competition, Cameron Cho placed 14th overall, Taylor Sartori finished 17th, Taylor Cho finished 19th, and Cynthia Ming rounded out the performers at 20th place.
Ethan Kwon earned the highest finish on the Men's side with a seventh overall placement in the Men's Foil competition out of 19 fencers. Elijah Onik placed 12th overall and Adam Yang placed 14th, while Christian Ko finished 16th. Daniel Gao earned eighth place in Men's Epee out of 19 competitors, while Colin Yu, Thomas Huang and Levi Hughes finished 11th, 16th, and 17th overall respectively. The Eagles had three fencers place in the top-12 of the Men's Sabre Competition with Ryan Wong leading the way with a ninth overall placement. Luca Berman finished 10th and William Xu finished 12th, while Colin Noble earned 17th place.Â
