Fencing Preps for NCAA Regionals

24 members of the Boston College Fencing team will compete at the NCAA Northeast Regionals on Sunday.
MEDFORD, Mass. – 24 members of the Boston College Fencing team are set to compete at the 2025 NCAA Northeast Regionals Championships on Sunday, Mar. 9 at the Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center on the campus of Tufts University.Â
NCAA NORTHEAST REGIONALS
The Eagles will travel to Medford, Mass. to compete at the 2025 NCAA Northeast Regional Fencing Championships on March 9th. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. eastern time.Â
Boston College will have a total of 24 athletes competing during the regional meet, with 12 athletes on both the Men's and Women's side. On the Men's side, Christian Ko, Ethan Kwon, Elijah Onik, and Adam Yang will compete in Men's Foil. Luca Berman, Colin Noble, Ryan Wong, and William Xu will compete in Men's Sabre, while Daniel Gao, Thomas Huang, Levi Hughes, and Colin Yu will take part in Men's Epee. On the Women's side, Cameron Cho, Taylor Cho, and Taylor Sartori will compete in Women's Foil, while Rachel Buhay, Artemis Christeas, Valeria Sourimto, and Isabella Zielinski will compete in Women's Sabre. Laura Fekete, Ginevra Giordano, Anisha Kundu, Junyao Lu, and Cynthia Ming will take part in Women's Epee.Â

Quote from head coach Brendan Doris-Pierce, "We're coming into regionals in a strong position to qualify several athletes to NCAAs. The team has had an excellent week of practice and I'm excited for us to go out and show the hardest region in the country what we can do."
For a student-athlete to compete at their respective regional, they must compete in a minimum of 21 bouts, as well as achieve at least a 25-percent win-loss percentage in scheduled bouts. For the Northeast Regional at Tufts, the NCAA Fencing Committee has issued a total of 23 berths to the NCAA Championships - eight epee, seven foil and eight sabre.  Additionally, two at-large selections will be made nationally in each weapon. The field for the national championships will be officially announced on Tuesday, March 11. The 2025 Fencing national championships will be held March 20-23 at Penn State University.Â
