Onik Earns Second Overall as Fencing Competes at NCAA Regionals

Elijah Onik places second overall in Men's Foil while Fencing competes at NCAA Northeast Regionals on Sunday
MEDFORD, Mass. – Elijah Onik finishes second overall in Men's Foil as 24 Members on the Boston College Fencing team competed at the 2025 NCAA Northeast Regionals on Sunday at the Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center on the campus of Tufts University.
The Eagles traveled down the road to Medford, Mass. to compete at the 2025 NCAA Northeast Regionals, and were joined by the top fencers and teams in the region all looking to earn bids to the NCAA Championships on March 20-23 in University Park, Pa.
Elijah Onik led the way for the Eagles on Sunday, placing second overall in Men's Foill. Boston College had two other fencers place in the top-20 for Men's Foil as Adam Yang earned 9th overall and Ethan Kwon finished 19th. Christian Ko rounded out the Eagles competing in Men's Foil with his 29th overall finish.Â
Junyao Lu was the highest Women's finisher on the day, as she earned 13th place in Women's Epee. Laura Fekete also finished in the top-20 with her 18th overall performance, while Ginevra Giordano finished 47th and Cynthia Ming came in at 48th overall. Anisha Kundu was able to finish 52nd overall out of 65 competitors.Â
The Eagles had four athletes place in the top-42 for Women's Sabre. Valeria Sourimto was the highest finisher in 29th place, while Rachel Buhay finished just behind at 31st overall. Isabella Zielinski (36th) and Artemis Christeas (42nd) rounded out the Eagles who competed in this event.Â
Taylor Cho and Taylor Sartori finished 23rd and 24th respectively in Women's Foil, while Cameron Cho placed 30th overall.Â
Four Eagles placed in the top-25 for Men's Epee, as Colin Yu led the way with his 11th overall performance. Daniel Gao achieved 18th place, while Levi Hughes and Thomas Huang finished back to back in 22nd and 23rd place respectively.Â
Luca Berman earned the highest finish for the Eagles in Men's Sabre, as he achieved 17th place. Colin Noble earned 18th place, while Ryan Wong finished 20th and William Xu placed 23rd.Â
Up Next: The field for the national championships will be officially announced on Tuesday, March 11. The 2025 Fencing national championships will be held March 20-23 at Penn State University.Â
