Fencing Heads South for Two Meets

The Eagles are set to compete at the The Beguinet Classic and the Miller Invitational
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College Men's and Women's Fencing teams will travel to North Carolina to compete in two meets over the weekend of Feb. 7 and 8. The Eagles will be in Durham for the The Beguinet Classic on Saturday, before heading down the road to Chapel Hill for the Miller Invitational on Sunday.Â
The Beguinet Classic
The Beguinet Classic will take place at Card Gym on the campus of the Duke University on Saturday, with the first round set to begin at 8 a.m.Â
There will be seven rounds total, with the Eagles competing in five. BC will face off against Penn State in round one, followed by NYU in round two. The Eagles will have a bye in round 3, followed by Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame, and UNC in rounds 4-6. BC will have a bye in the round 7 to close out the meet.Â

Miller InvitationalÂ
The Miller Invitational will be held at the Eddie Smith Field House on the campus of the University of North Carolina on Sunday, and competition will kick off at 8 a.m.
The meet will have seven rounds, and each team will have two byes throughout the day. BC will battle Notre Dame in round 1, followed by UNC, NYU, Air Force, and Penn State. The Eagles will close out the meet with two byes in rounds 6 and 7.Â

Last Time Out
The Eagles competed in five total rounds at the Eric Sollee Invitational on both the Men's and Women's sides, with both teams finishing with records of 4-1 overall.Â
Rachel Buhay, Junyao Lu, and Taylor Sartori all earned their 100th career wins as an Eagle during the Invitational. Taylor Cho won her 161st career Women's Foil bout, which puts her at No. 1 all-time in BC history.Â
On the Women's side, Epee led the way with a perfect 5-0 record on the day. Women's Epee earned 9-0 victories over Yeshiva in round 4 and Hunter in round 5, while also defeating Stevens 7-2 in round 3.Â
Womens' Foil and Sabre both compiled 4-1 victories each. Women's Sabre earned 9-0 victories over Yeshiva and Hunter, while Women's Foil also defeated Yeshiva 9-0 leading to an Eagles 27-0 team victory.Â
On the Men's side, Men's Epee earned a 4-1 record and Men's Foil finished 3-2. Men's Sabre only competed in four matches while earning a 4-0 record.Â
Men's Epee and Foil both earned 9-0 wins against Yeshiva and Hunter, leading to two BC team victories. The Eagles finished the day with a 18-0 victory over Hunter, as there was no match for Men's Sabre.Â
