Eagles Take Down FGCU for First Win of 2025

Abby Dunning pitched a complete game
Fort Myers, Fla. - The Boston College Eagles defeated Florida Gulf Coast by a score of 2-1 on Thursday evening.
The action started in the first inning, as Gator Robinson notched a leadoff single, before swiping second base. Hannah Slike then drove her in with a single for her first RBI of the season. BC recorded their second run of the game later in the first inning as Slike scored after an error from the right fielder. FGCU scored their lone run in the fourth inning after a bases loaded walk, and the score would remain 2-1 for the remainder of the game.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Zoe Hines, Meghan Schouten, and Kali Case each made diving catches to seal the win for the Eagles.Â
Abby Dunning pitched a complete game, notching three strikeouts with one unearned run. In her 24 career innings of action against FGCU, she has yet to give up an earned run.
Up next: The Eagles are back in action tomorrow as they take on Boston University at 12:15 p.m. and FGCU again at 5:00 p.m. The game against FGCU will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
