
Newton Finale This Weekend Brings No.9 Syracuse and Louisville

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College (5-9, 0-6 ACC) continues their stay in Newton to close out the regular season. The Eagles open the stretch on Friday, hosting No.9 Syracuse (10-4, 2-4 ACC) at 6 p.m. on ACC Network, before taking on Louisville (7-7, 1-4, ACC) Sunday at noon.

SENIOR NIGHT
On Sunday we will honor our four seniors, Martina Giacchino, Mia Garber, Eva Kluskens and Carine Van Wiechen, who have been instrumental to the program's success on the Heights. Together, they helped guide the Eagles to their 13th NCAA Tournament appearance in 2024 and have been at the heart of more than 35 victories over their four years. Their impact includes some of the program's most memorable moments from upsetting Duke to advance to the ACC Championship last season to securing a top-10 win over Maryland to open the 2025 campaign.
WEEKEND RECAP
- The Eagles exploded offensively on Sunday afternoon, earning an 8-2 victory over the University of New Hampshire in non-conference play. The Eagles' eight-goal performance marked their highest single-game total since 2016, when they tallied eight against Northeastern.
- In their game against Duke, Laila Rosenquest scored the lone goal for the Eagles toward the end of the fourth quarter off a penalty corner.
SHOOTING OUR SHOT
- Alex De Cain scored two goals in the UNH game to now co-lead the team in goals with four on the season alongside Melea Weber.
- De Cain has recorded the most points for the Eagles with four goals and two assists.
- A total of 12 different attackers have recorded goals on the season.
- Captains Eva Kluskens and Martina Giacchino each have four assists on the season.
- BC scored eight goals in the game against New Hampshire, the highest goal count of the season.Â
DPC UNIT
- The Defensive Penalty Corner unit has held strong for the Eagles averaging 5.2 DPC a game.
- BC has faced 73 DPCs while only allowing five goals off corners.
- Rosenquest and Giacchino each have recorded two defensive saves this season to be tied at the highest in the ACC.
A LOOK AT SYRACUSE
- This will be the 42nd meeting between the Orange and Eagles
- SU remains in the top 10 of the NFHCA Coaches Poll, despite a one-goal setback against a team now ranked first in the country (UNC)
- This is the seventh-straight week Syracuse has been inside the top 10
- Pati Strunk is leading the nation in assists per game with 1.36
- Bo van Kempen is leading the conference in goals and points per game, averaging 1.36 goals and 2.93 points. She has totaled 20 goals with three assists for a conference high 43 points
- Last season the Eagles defeated Cuse at home 1-0 with a goal by Madelieve Drion off a rebound from Martina Giacchino

- BC meets the Cardinals for only the 15th time in program history this Sunday for senior day
- The Cardinals got their first ACC win in an upset over No.19 Cal
- The 3-1 victory was their third win over a top-20 opponent this season
- Louisville is ranked third in the conference in opponent scoring average with a .72 margin
- LU is second in the ACC in total team points with 101 so far this season
- Last season Mia Garber scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over the Cardinals
