
Eagles Fall to No.9 Syracuse

Newton, Mass. – Boston College (5-10, 0-7 ACC) fell 3-1 to No. 9 Syracuse (11-4, 3-4 ACC) on Friday night in a top-10 match up in Newton.
Goalkeeper Carine Van Wiechen earned her third start of the season and kept the Orange off the board through the first quarter, making a key save off a penalty corner. Syracuse broke through in the second quarter with two quick goals in the 20th minute to take control.
BC nearly answered when Caroline Chisholm's shot found the back of the cage, but the goal was overturned for a dangerous play. Syracuse extended its lead to 3-0 early in the second half before Madelieve Drion put the Eagles on the board midway through the fourth quarter with her fourth goal of the season, assisted by Madeline Leigh.
In a tightly contested game, the Orange held a narrow advantage in shots (11–10), shots on goal (7–7), saves (6–3), and corners (4–3).

BC will have one final game in Newton on Sunday at 12 p.m. against Louisville for Senior day. Ceremonies will take place proceeding the game.
