
Eagles Secure Senior Day Victory in Shoot Out Over Louisville

Newton, Mass. — Boston College (6-10, 1-7 ACC) closed out the regular season with a Senior Day victory, defeating Louisville (7-9, 1-6 ACC) 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in Newton.
The Eagles honored the Class of 2026 following the matchup, as seniors Martina Giacchino, Mia Garber, Eva Kluskens, and Carine Van Wiechen took the field for the final time at home.
Louisville opened the scoring late in the first quarter despite two key saves from Charlotte Kramer and a defensive stop from Laila Rosenquest.
BC answered in the 22nd minute, converting off a penalty corner. Madelieve Drion inserted to Giacchino, who returned the pass through traffic for Drion to finish, evening the score at 1-1.
The Eagles generated strong chances in the third quarter, earning six corners, but the Cardinals' defense held firm to keep the game level heading into the fourth.
After a scoreless final frame, BC went to overtime for the fourth time this season. With neither side finding the back of the cage through two extra periods, the game moved to a shootout.
Alex De Cain hustled it out for the first goal in the shoot out, followed by successful attempts from Drion and Giacchino to give BC a 3-1 lead. Kramer sealed the win with a save, securing the Eagles' first conference victory of the season.
UP NEXT
The Eagles now await the final standings to see if they qualify for the ACC Championship, set for Nov. 4–7 in Louisville.
