NIT Second Round: Eagles Travel to UNLV on Sunday

BOSTON COLLEGE VS. UNLV - ALL-TIME SERIES
- Tonight's marks the first meeting between Boston College and UNLV.
- BC is 2-0 in the city of Las Vegas, winning the Las Vegas Invitational MTE in 2005. Those games were played at Valley High School.
BOSTON COLLEGE VERSUS THE MOUNTAIN WEST
- Boston College is 2-1 versus Mountain West opponents.
- The Eagles fell to Colorado State at the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame MTE on Nov. 22 earlier this season.
- In 2022-23, the Eagles downed Wyoming, 59-48, in the third-place game of the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam.
- The Eagles are 4-2 versus teams that currently make up the MWC, which began operation during the 1999-2000 season.
BOSTON COLLEGE IN THE NIT
- Boston College is making its 13th appearance in the NIT, compiling an 18-13 all-time record in the tournament.
- Boston College is 6-3 all-time in NIT true road games, downing Providence, 62-57, in the opening round on March 19.
- The Eagles appeared in the 1969 NIT championship game, falling to Temple, 89-76, at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
- BC has also advanced to the NIT semifinals in 1974 and 1988.
- In their previous NIT appearance in 2018, the Eagles dropped a 79-62 decision at Western Kentucky.
POSTÂ AMONG NATION'S ELITE
- Quinten Post is one of the best players in the country and his stat line for the Eagles this season is perfect evidence.
- He is the only major conference player in the nation averaging 16.9 points, 8.1 boards, 2.9 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game.
- The last ACC player to average that season stat line: Wake Forest's Tim Duncan in 1996-97.
- Post was one of two players to rank among the top 10 in the ACC in scoring, rebounding, blocks, and FG% this year.
- Points and rebounds: Post is one of seven major conference players averaging at least 16.9 points and 8.1 rebounds.
- Dating back to the 1990-91 season, Post joins four other BC players - Jared Dudley, Craig Smith (3x), Danya Abrams (2x), and Bill Curley (2x) - as the only Eagles to average at least 16.9 points and 8.1 rebounds for a season.
- Points and assists: Post is one of 21 major conference players to average at least 16.9 points and 2.9 assists.Â
- Percentages: Post is one of three players with a 50/40/80 line of percentages - at 51.1 FG%, 43.6 3FG%, and 82.1 FT%.
- It's not a small sample: in 84 games at BC since 2021-22, Post has registered a 50/40/80 shooting line - .515 FG; .418 3FG; .801 FT. - the only active player (min. 10.0 ppg) to post such shooting lines since the start of 2021-22- present.
- He has logged 11 double-doubles this season - the most by a BC player since 2003-04 when Craig Smith also had 11.
- Post and Purdue's Zach Edey are the only two players nationally with at least three 30-point double-doubles.
- Post is two 3FG and three assists away from becoming the third major conference player - and the only 7-footer - in the last 27 years to tally 50 3-pointers, 100 assists, 50 blocks, and 30 steals in a single season.Â

- In 1974, BC downed Jacksonville, 87-77, in the third place game of the NIT at Madison Square Garden.
- In NCAA Tournament play, BC fell to top-seeded Virginia, 95-92, on March 24, 1983 and dropped a 69-60 overtime decision to Villanova in 2006. The Eagles dropped NIT decisions to Rhode Island in 1992 and Providence in 1993 on March 24.

DEFENSE HAS TRAVELED SINCE PITT LOSS
- After yielding a season-high 90 points and a season-high 16 3FG vs. Pitt on March 2, BC's defensive efforts have been stout.
- Over the last six games - all road/neutral, the Eagles have compiled a 5-1 mark, holding opponents to 60.2 points per game.
- BC held four of the six opponents - Miami, Clemson, Virginia, and Providence - to under 60 points in regulation.
- BC has defended the perimeter well during that stretch, holding foes to only 5.8 3FG/g on 24.6% shooting from the outside.
- During the six-game stretch, BC ranks 18th nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency (90.2) per Bart Torvik.
NICE COMPANY
- Boston College is among 69 teams nationally to rank among the top 100 on KenPom's adjusted offensive and adjusted defensive efficiency lists. The Eagles are 66th offensively (113.3) and 97th defensively (102.2). UNLV is also one of those 69 teams.
DISHIN' AND SWISHIN'
- Boston College's top three scorers - Quinten Post, Claudell Harris Jr., and Jaeden Zackery - are also its top three assists men.
- Zackery ranks third in scoring (11.4) and first in assists (4.3), Post is first in scoring (16.9) and second in assists (2.9), and Harris is second in scoring (13.8) and third in assists (2.1). The trio combines for over 9.3 of the 14.0 assists per game.
McGLOCKTON ONE OF THE MOST IMPROVED
- Devin McGlockton earned three votes for the ACC's Most Improved Player award, with major jumps in several stat categories.
- Through 35 games, McGlockton is fourth on the Eagles in scoring (10.2) and second in rebounding (6.3).
- McGlockton's per game averages have increased across the board: scoring +4.1 and rebounding +2.4.
- In ACC play (20 games), McGlockton averaged 11.8 points and 6.4 rebounds in 32 minutes per game.
- Year-over-year, he has almost tripled his scoring (+6.3) and more than doubled his rebounding (+3.0) in ACC games.
- In ACC games, McGlockton connected on nearly 60% of his shot attempts from the floor (96-162); up from .500 a year ago.
- The 6-7 forward ranks 59th nationally in effective FG% (.608) and 76th nationally in true shooting percentage (.625).
- He has two double-doubles and has set new career-highs in scoring (30), rebounding (14), and blocks (3) this year.
HARRIS SHINES AMONG THE BRIGHT LIGHTS OF THE HEIGHTS
- Claudell Harris Jr. has scored in double figures in 24 of the 34 games in which he has appeared this season.
- Harris has scored 20 or more 17 times in his career - including five with BC this season.
- Over the last six games, Harris is averaging nearly 17.0 points per game - including an 18.0 ppg clip in ACCT play.
- In the ACC Tournament game vs. Clemson, Harris led all scorers with 27 points, on 10-of-22 shots including five 3-pointers.
- On Feb. 13, Harris led the Eagles with 20 points (8-12 FG; 4-6 3FG) at Louisville.Â
- He scored a season-high 29 points - including the 1,000th of his career - knocking down 7-of-10 3FG against Lehigh.
- At Georgia Tech, Harris had 26 points shooting 8-of-10 from the floor - and 4-of-4 from beyond the arc - in the road win.
- The junior guard also added 22 points at Vanderbilt, making 9-of-13 shots - including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
- He shined for Charleston Southern for two seasons, earning All-Big South second team honors as a sophomore a season ago.
- The 6-3 guard averaged 17.5 points per game last year - the second-best scoring mark in the Big South.
- Harris scored in double figures in 28 of 30 games for the Buccaneers in 2022-23 - including two consecutive 30-point games. Â
- Harris spent two seasons at Charleston Southern and was named to the 2021-22 Big South All-Freshman Team, averaging 10.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 31 games played (14 starts) in his first collegiate season.
ALWAYS LOOK FOR THE HELPERS
- As a playmaker, Jaeden Zackery ranks among the top players nationally in three different categories.
- He is 106th nationally in assist/turnover ratio (2.19:1), 74th in total assists (149), and 109th in assists per game (4.3).
- Earlier this season, Zackery became the 14th different Eagle since 1996-97 to reach the 100 assist mark in a season.
- Zackery's 149 assists are the most by a BC player since Ky Bowman (165) during the 2017-18 campaign.
- Zackery is one of only three Boston College players to tally at least 149 assists and 63 steals in a single season.
- The others: Michael Adams (1982-83, 1984-85) and Duane Woodward (1997-98).
THREE IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
- BC has connected on 111 3-pointers over its last 12 games, including a season-high 15 in the first meeting vs. Miami.
- The 15 3-pointers made against Miami tied for the fourth-most in a single-game in Boston College men's basketball history.
