
Lacrosse Starts Fast, Finishes Strong in Win Over UAlbany

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - A fast start and strong finish led Boston College lacrosse to a 15-7 win over No. 23 UAlbany on Wednesday afternoon in Fish Field House.
The Eagles are 2-0 for the fourth straight season after their 18th straight home win. The Great Danes are 0-2.
Rachel Clark didn't disappoint in her first game as an Eagles, as she tied for the team lead with four goals and one point for five points. Kayla Martello put together a second hat trick in as many games with four scores as well.
Mckenna Davis led the way with three assists and added a goal for four points. Belle Smith added three points with two helpers, a goal, and three draw controls. Eight Eagles scored for BC, while Emma LoPinto scored twice.
Three different players scored in the first seven minutes of the contest to lead BC to a 3-0 lead. After UAlbany got on the board to cut the deficit to two, Cassidy Weeks started another 3-0 spurt to give BC a 6-1 lead at the end of the first.
BC held an 8-2 lead late in the first half, and eventually went into the break with an 8-4 cushion. The Great Danes made things interesting as it sliced the gap to just two with 12:45 left in the third.
However, the Eagles ended the contest on a 7-1 surge over the final 16 minutes of the game. Clark and Martello spearheaded the run with a combined five goals. Shea Baker and Andrea Reynolds tacked on the other two in the fourth to help BC pull away.
Defensively, Boston College forced 10 turnovers, with Lydia Colasante leading the way with three caused turnovers and three ground balls. Becky Browndorf registered two CTs and two GBs. Reynolds led the team with five draw controls on top of one CT, one GB, and a goal. Ryan Smith registered four draw controls and a pair of ground balls.
Shea Dolce stopped nine shots for a .563 save percentage in her start between the posts.
BC returns to action on Sunday in its first road contest of the season against Jacksonville at 11 a.m.
