Eagles Fall 3-1 on the Road to Quinnipiac

HAMDEN, Conn. – Junior Jonathan Murphy scored for the second time in as many matches, but Boston College fell 3-1 on the road to Quinnipiac on Monday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium.
The Eagles evened their record at 1-1-0, while the Bobcats improved to 1-0-1.
Quinnipiac opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Dario Cavada converted a rebound after Leon Musial's initial save on Terrance Wilder, Jr.
QU doubled its lead in the 35th as Francisco Ferreira took a pass from Cavada in the right side of the BC box and fired a shot inside the near post.
Boston College pulled a goal back quickly in the 38th minute following an impressive individual effort from Xavier O'Neil. The freshman weaved his way into the right side of the Quinnipiac box before centering a pass for Murphy, who lifted a first-time effort into the roof of the net. O'Neil earned his first career point with an assist.
Brage Aasen restored the Bobcats two-goal cushion in the 58th minute, finishing a centering pass in the center of the box from Tomas Svecula low to the left post.
Musial earned the start in net and made three saves, while O'Neil led the Eagles with three shots on the day.
BC returns to action on Friday night when it hosts Jacksonville at the Newton Soccer Complex at 5:30 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
