Harvard Battles Back to Earn 3-3 Tie with Boston College at Beanpot
February 14, 2022 | Men's Hockey
BOSTON – Junior Liam Izyk scored twice for the second straight game, but Harvard battled back from 3-1 down in the third period to earn a 3-3 tie with Boston College in the consolation game of the 69th Beanpot on Monday at TD Garden.
Sophomore Colby Ambrosio also scored for the Eagles (10-15-5), while graduate student Brandon Kruse collected a pair of assists. Eric Dop posted 32 saves, including four in overtime as BC killed off a 4-on-3 Crimson power play.
Izyk gave Boston College the lead at 8:24 of the first when he finished a centering pass from Kruse blocker side from inside the right faceoff dot.
Harvard (13-8-3) tied the score on a shorthanded goal at 12:24 of the second, but Ambrosio answered less than a minute later on the power play as he followed a shot from Casey Carreau and fired a shot blocker side from the left circle.
Izyk's second of the night came off a deflected shot from the center point that bounced off a pair of skates and found the top left corner, giving BC a 3-1 cushion through 40 minutes.
The Crimson finished a 2-on-1 just 1:05 into the third to cut the Eagles' lead in half, and Matthew Coronato located a rebound with five minutes remaining to force overtime.
Boston College faces Northeastern in a home-and-home series this weekend, beginning on Friday night at Matthews Arena.
