Balanced Scoring Pushes No. 15 Eagles Past UMass Lowell
December 06, 2025 | Men's Hockey
Eight players recorded a point; Cloutier made 31 saves
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 15/14 Boston College men's hockey team completed the weekend sweep over UMass Lowell with a 3-1 victory on Saturday evening at Kelley Rink. Dean Letourneau, Lukas Gustafsson, and Jake Sondreal each lit the lamp for the Eagles, while five different players recorded an assist. Louka Cloutier made 31 saves, including 12 in the third period.
Boston College improves to 10-5-1 overall and 7-3-0 in league play while UMass Lowell moves to 6-10-0 overall and 3-5-0 in Hockey East.
Just minutes before BC took the lead, Cloutier made an acrobatic save on the line to keep UMass Lowell off the board. The puck was in the air and the freshman netminder punched it away with his glove while falling over.
The Eagles opened the scoring late in the first period after capitalizing on a UMass Lowell turnover in the neutral zone. Ryan Conmy poke checked the puck away before finding Sondreal for a rip from the slot to put BC in front.
Just over two minutes later, Boston College doubled its lead with a power play, its third of the weekend. While searching for an opening, Teddy Stiga and James Hagens combined for several passes before Gustafsson fired a shot from the point that went through the River Hawk defense into the top corner of the goal.
UMass Lowell cut into the deficit early in the middle frame with a power play goal of their own through Diego Buttazzoni.
Boston College pushed its lead back to two later in the second period when Letourneau went bar down off a drop pass by Landan Resendes after a stretch pass from Drew Fortescue. Fortescue launched the puck along the boards on the right side through the neutral zone to Resendes. The freshman skated towards goal before electing to drop it off for Letourneau, and Letourneau made no mistake with the opportunity to restore the two-goal lead.
The River Hawks pulled their goaltender with just under three minutes remaining in the third period in an effort to get cut into the BC lead. The Eagles' defense and Cloutier turned away the attempts to hold on for the win.
