McLaughlin Powers No. 2 Eagles Past UNH with Shorthanded Overtime Winner

Senior captain Marc McLaughlin scored shorthanded just 25 seconds into overtime to secure an extra point for Boston College
DURHAM, N.H. – Captain Marc McLaughlin snapped a shot high glove side on a partial breakaway to beat Mike Robinson for a shorthanded game-winning goal just 25 seconds into overtime on Sunday at the Whittemore Center.
No. 2 Boston College pulled out a 3-2 road victory over New Hampshire to split a home-and-home series. The Eagles improved to 6-2-0 with two Hockey East points, while the Wildcats fell back below .500 at 3-4-1.
McLaughlin finished the contest with a multi-point performance on a goal and an assist. The junior was plus-2 and won 15 of his 22 faceoffs on the night for BC, which never trailed.
Classmate Casey Carreau netted his first goal of the season in the opening period, while sophomore Mike Hardman collected his fourth in the middle frame.
Spencer Knight earned the win in net to extend his personal unbeaten streak to 14 games (13-0-1) dating back to last season. In his first action since returning from the World Junior Championship, Knight made 27 saves including a highlight reel stop with his left pad extended in the closing minutes of regulation. With his second stop of the night, the sophomore recorded his 1,000th career save.
Both of New Hampshire's goals came on the power play as the Wildcats went 2-for-8 with the man advantage, while the Eagles finished 0-for-3.
Matt Boldy extended his point streak to six games to start his sophomore season with an assist on Hardman's goal.
