Eagles defeat BU in the 300th Battle of Comm Ave
BOSTON – The Boston College Eagles are Beanpot Champions once again, defeating Boston University by a score of 6-2 on Monday evening at TD Garden in the 300th Battle of Comm Ave. With the win, the Eagles won their 21st Beanpot title and first since 2016.
Boston College moves to 16-9-1 overall while Boston University is now 13-14-2 overall.
Ryan Conmy led the Eagles with four points on a career-high four assists. Lukas Gustafsson was second with three points on a goal and two assists. Teddy Stiga, James Hagens, Andre Gasseau and Will Vote each finished with two points as Gasseau and Vote each scored twice, while Hagens and Stiga each dished out two assists. Louka Cloutier provided a 27-save effort to earn the win.
The Terriers opened the scoring two minutes into the game when a quick inside move found the back of the net. Cloutier made the initial save, but Brandon Svoboda scored on the follow up off the rebound.
After the goal, the Eagles penalty kill managed to kill off two penalties in less than 10 minutes. Gasseau then knotted the game up for Boston College 38 seconds into their power play, when he knocked it in from Conmy and J. Hagens with just under five minutes to go in the first period.
Vote gave the Eagles the lead with just under five minutes left in the second period when he tipped home a shot by Gustafsson. Boston College pushed their advantage to two when Gustafsson ripped a shot from just inside the blue line on the Eagles' second power play of the game.
Boston College got their third power play goal of the night when Gasseau picked up his second of the night when Conmy found him at the net front for a tap-in.
Boston University cut the Eagles lead to two with just over five minutes to go in the game when they struck on the powerplay from Cole Eiserman.
Dean Letourneau restored the Boston College three goal lead when he redirected a pass from Stiga and Conmy with four minutes to go. Vote picked up his second of the game with an empty net goal to seal the victory for the Eagles.
