February 06, 2026 | Men's Hockey
Four-game winning streak comes to an end
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 11/13 Boston College men's hockey team suffered a 6-1 defeat to Vermont on Friday evening at Kelley Rink. James Hagens scored for the Eagles, while Lukas Gustafsson and Ryan Conmy each picked up an assist.
Boston College moves to 15-9-1 overall and 10-6-0 in Hockey East, while Vermont is now 12-14-0 overall and 7-9-0 in league play.
The Catamounts jumped out to an early lead after Colin Kessler forced a BC turnover in the neutral zone before taking the puck down towards goal and getting a shot past Louka Cloutier inside the opening 90 seconds. Vermont doubled its lead midway through the first period after Ethan Burroughs finished a shot from the left faceoff circle.
BC started to chip away the deficit with a power play goal inside the opening minute of the second period. Gustafsson fired a shot from the blue line that was tipped by J. Hagens at the net front and redirected into the back of the net.
Vermont responded with a power play goal of their own shortly after the halfway point of the middle frame as Sebastian Törnqvist took a shot through traffic that found its way into the net. The Catamounts added three more goals in the third.
