The No. 1 Eagles are set to take on No. 21 Virginia Tech Saturday
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 1 Boston College women's lacrosse team is set for their final road trip of the 2019 regular season as they head to Blacksburg to take on No. 21 Virginia Tech Saturday at noon.
Coming off of their 14th straight win, the Eagles sit at the top of both the ACC and NCAA standings going into the final stretch of the season. Last week, the Eagles toppled two top conference opponents in Notre Dame, 13-9, and Duke, 20-12. Kenzie Kent led all scorers throughout both contests, putting up two goals and four assists against the Fighting Irish and three goals and five assists against the Blue Devils. The graduate students' dominance led her to becoming both the ACC Offensive Player of the Week and the IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Week. Senior defender Elizabeth Miller joined in the conference honors as she was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
The Hokies hold an 8-7 overall record heading into the matchup, most recently having shortly fallen to Syracuse and Notre Dame. Virginia Tech is led by Paige Petty's 62 points through 55 goals and seven assists as goalkeeper Morgan Berman holds a .417 save percentage through the season so far.
The Eagles took the victory in the regular season meeting in 2018, coming out on top 9-7 in Newton. The win secured the Eagles' first-ever ACC regular season championship title as Sam Apuzzo led the day with four goals.
Following Saturday's contest, the Eagles return to Chestnut Hill to host Yale on Tuesday, April 16. First draw is set for 4:00 p.m. as the Eagles move into Alumni Stadium to wrap up the regular season.
