The lacrosse team looks for their eighth straight win in the series with the Crimson
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 1 Boston College women's lacrosse team is coming off of a strong statement win over intrastate rival Massachusetts as they prepare for their second game in three days. The Eagles play host to Harvard, Saturday afternoon at the Newton Campus Fields. Opening draw is set for 1:00 p.m.
Saturday's contest will be the 40th time in 41 years that the Eagles and Crimson have met. Harvard holds the all-time series lead, winning 27 matchups to BC's 12. The Eagles are on a seven-game win streak, having topped Harvard in each of their meetings since March 17, 2011.
The Crimson won their season opener and only game of 2019 thus far, 14-6, over New Hampshire. Keeley MacAfee led the team with four goals, securing her 100th career goal, in first-year head coach Devon Wills' first win.
The Eagles sit at a perfect 3-0 record so far this season, most recently taking down Massachusetts, 25-14, Thursday afternoon in Amherst. Sam Apuzzo and Kenzie Kent both contributed four goals and three assists each while freshmen Courtney Weeks and Jenn Medjid found their first career goals. Medjid tallied three on the day, securing her first hat trick after seeing action in all three games this season off the bench.
Saturday afternoon's contest will be the first time that the Eagles show off their new gold uniforms. BC fans are encouraged to wear gold to support the team in a Gold Out. The first 500 fans at the field will receive gold BC Lacrosse rally towels. Â
