Eagles Travel to Louisville For a Friday Night Showdown

Eagles-Cardinals - Friday at 7:30 on ACCNX
The No. 20/26 Boston College men's soccer team heads to Louisville for a Friday night ACC tilt at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. BC and Louisville will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on the ACC Network Extra. It is the start of a three-game road swing for the Eagles.

BC improved to 7-2-3 overall and 1-2-2 in the ACC after a 1-1 overtime draw versus No. 1 Virginia last week.

The Eagles have landed in three polls this week - 14th in the Top Drawer Soccer, 26th in the College Soccer News Top 30 and 20th in the Soccer America Poll. They are also receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll this week.

Boston College (7-2-3, 1-2-2 ACC) is currently on a six game unbeaten streak at 3-0-3. In the six game run, the three victories are against then-No. 3 Wake Forest (2-1), UMass (1-0) and Northeastern (3-0). The three ties are against ACC foes No. 1 Virginia (1-1 OT) and at #22 Virginia Tech (2-2 OT) and a non-conference draw to Merrimack (0-0 OT).
In the final weeks of October, Boston College has a tough stretch.
The Eagles will travel to Louisville (5-4-2, 1-3-1 ACC) on Oct. 18, No. 8/10 Clemson (10-1-1, 3-1-1 ACC) on Oct. 25 and finish the three-game road trip at Harvard (0-7-1) on Oct. 29. BC will return home on Nov. 1 to host Syracuse (4-3-4, 1-2-2 ACC) in the final regular season ACC match.
Boston College is tied with Syracuse with five points and one point ahead of Louisville in the Atlantic Division Conference. Syracuse will host No. 23/17 NC State (3-2-0 ACC) on Saturday and will play at BC Friday, Nov. 1 in the final regular season ACC game. Louisville will finish the conference regular season at No. 19/23 North Carolina on Oct. 25 and host No. 4/7 Wake Forest on Nov. 1.
Louisville (5-4-2, 1-3-1 ACC) defeated Northern Kentucky, 1-0, in overtime on Tuesday. Emil Elveroth scored in the 96th minute for the victory.
BC vs. LOUISVILLE
- This is the sixth game between BC and Louisville.
- The Cardinals lead the overall series, 4-0-1. The first three meetings went into overtime.
- BC first played Louisville in 2014. BC lost in overtime, 3-2, at home.
- The last time BC and Louisville played was on Sept. 14, 2018. The Cardinals scored in the 79th minute. BC had an, 8 -7, edge in shots but Louisville had five corner kicks to just one for the Eagles.

- In the first release of the NCAA Soccer RPI on Monday, Boston College is at 23. Ten ACC teams are in the top 30 and 15 are in the top 15.
- Freshman Stefan Sigurdarson was named the ACC's Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 7, after he scored two goals in the win over Wake Forest. He was also named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week and the Top Drawer Soccer TOW. The forward now has a team-high four goals, two assists for 10 points. He not only leads BC in scoring but also game-winning goals with three.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Christian Garner has played the last six games (3-0-3). He has a goals-against average of 0.60 and has recoded three shutouts. In the tie against No. 1 UVA last week, he had a career-high nine saves. He earned the Eagle of the Week honors this past week.
- Three defenders –David Longo, Joe Kellett and Victor Souza – have played every minute of every game this season.
- Two freshman - Stefan Sigurdarson and Victor Souza – are the only first-year players to start every game this season.
- Boston College has scored 17 goals and 12 have come in the second half.
