Eagles to Host Clemson in Friday's ACC Opener

The game is the first of three straight home games for the squad.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's soccer team will have its first ACC test of the season on Friday night, hosting Clemson for a 7 p.m. kick off. The game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra – available at WatchESPN.com or the ESPN app.

The meeting marks the first conference contest for both the Eagles and the Tigers. BC (1-0-2, 0-0-0 ACC) is coming off a 1-1 double overtime tie at Providence on Aug. 31 – the second consecutive double overtime tie after a 3-3 affair with crosstown rival Boston University on Aug. 27. Against the Friars, Beto Luna tallied the first goal of the season in the seventh minute for an early lead but Providence evened the scored by the half. Antonio Chavez Borrelli was stellar in goal, making a career-high nine saves to preserve the tie.

• Clemson (3-1-0, 0-0-0 ACC) topped Villanova, 2-0, on Sept. 3 behind goals from Kimarni Smith and John Murphy.
• The Tigers have won three straight games entering Friday night's match with the Eagles.
• Goalkeeper Jonny Sutherland was named to the 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List – one of four goalkeepers on the 32-player list – and midfielder John Murphy Jr. was named to TopDrawerSoccer's Preseason Best XI Freshman squad.

THE SERIES vs. CLEMSON
• Friday's game will be the 18th meeting between the two teams, all of which have come since BC joined the ACC in 2005.
• The Tigers hold a 9-3-5 edge in the all-time series, but the Eagles have a 3-1-3 mark at home.
• Last year, the team's met on Sept. 15 in South Carolina, with Clemson using a second half goal to earn the 1-0 home win.
