BC Tops Clemson, 3-2, Behind Enstrom’s Last Minute Winner

Enstrom records a brace with the game-tying and game-winning goals
NEWTON, Mass. – The Boston College men's soccer team opened up ACC play with a dramatic come-from-behind, 3-2, win over Clemson on Friday night at the Newton Campus Fields.
Senior Simon Enstrom scored twice, tying the game in the 71st minute before firing home the game-winner with a minute to play. The captain also assisted on Callum Johnson's goal in the first half. Trevor Davock and Kristofer Konradsson also earned assists in the win - which was the first for BC (2-0-2, 1-0-0 ACC) over Clemson (3-2-0, 0-1-0 ACC) since the 2009 season - with Davock finding Enstrom for the winner.
The Eagles had a strong opening 15 minutes, with multiple chances being generated on the right flank by Johnson. The junior whipped in a cross for Enstrom that was headed just high over the crossbar. Minutes later, Johnson sent in a hard, high shot off a rebound but it too went high. Antonio Chavez Borrelli kept the 1-0 lead heading into halftime by making a great reactionary save to his left on a dangerous shot off a centering pass with four minutes to play in the stanza.
The second half saw both teams come out aggressively and combined for three goals in 15 minutes. Clemson scored two in a row, including one on a penalty kick, to take a lead but Enstrom and the rest of the Eagles did well to keep pressuring for an equalizer (shots). Eventually, the equalizer came with 17 minutes to play and the Eagles kept the onslaught going. Davock entered the game with 12 minutes to play and made the most of it, eventually finding Enstrom for the winner with 1:24 remaining.
Chavez Borrelli finished with three saves, as did Clemson's Jonny Sutherland.
Boston College returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 11 when the team hosts Holy Cross at 5 p.m. at the Newton Campus Fields. The game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra, which is available on WatchESPN and the ESPN app.

SCORING
• 20' | Enstrom and Johnson worked a give-and-go down the right side after Johnson stole the ball from a Clemson defender. Enstrom sent the ball to Johnson heading down the middle and then received the ball back, driving down the right side of the box. Enstrom's centering pass then found Johnson six feet from the left post for the first goal of the game.
• 58' | After Clemson was awarded a penalty kick, Malick Mbaye stepped to the dot and while Chavez Borrelli guessed to the right, the low kick to the opposite corner beat the keeper.
• 65' | Sindri Bjornsson took the corner to the left of Chavez Borrelli and the ball landed in the box, bouncing off some players before landing at the feet of Bunk-Andersen for a shot from five yards out.
• 73' | Konradsson curled in a corner from the left of the goalkeeper and with Enstrom running to the near post, he was able to get a head on it and loft it to the far post to tie it up, 2-2.
