Eagles Top #5 UNC for First Time since 2015
March 24, 2018 | Lacrosse
Sam Apuzzo adds nine points to lacrosse’s triumph during the Red Bandana game.
NEWTON, Mass. – The Boston College lacrosse team extended their historic win streak to 12 games after downing No. 5/5 North Carolina, 17-11, during the 2018 Red Bandana game.
Â
After barely squeaking out a lead at the end of the first half, the Eagles (12-0, 3-0) put up an 11 point second half to beat the Tar Heels (6-3, 1-1) for the first time since 2015.
Â
After the Maroon and Gold put up the first two points of the game, UNC scored two of their own, beginning a very back-and-forth first half that the Eagles came out of with a slight one-goal edge. The second frame looked as though it would be similar to the first, but after senior Kaileen Hart netted two goals in a row to kick off a 6-0 run for the Eagles, the win was secured.
Â
Junior goalkeeper Lauren Daly managed eight saves, all of which came at crucial moments, in her 12th start on the year.
