HOW IT HAPPENED
- 20' | Callum Johnson struck for his second goal of the season to put the Eagles ahead. Along the far touchline, Younes Boudadi played the ball quickly ahead to Johnson surging into space, and the sophomore launched a shot from 25 yards out that beat BU keeper Michael Bernardi
- 33' | With the Eagles maintaining a long stretch of possession, BC finally broke through the Terriers' back line when Simon Enstrom turned out from around a defender and flicked a pass ahead to Beto Luna running in down the right center channel. Luna out-paced his defender and picked up Nikita Bonda coming into the play, where he sent a pass across the area for Bondar's tap-in and a 2-0 lead.
- 59-60' | With the Eagles continuing to maintain possession in the second half, Boudadi's dribble run down the right wing brought him into the penalty area. With a defender coming, he cut outside and was taken down inside the 18, leading to an easy penalty call. Tomas Gudmundsson stepped to the spot and slotted it home low and to his left past Bernardi to push the lead to three goals.
- 69' | With more quick play down the right wing, the Eagles pushed their lead to four goals when Boudadi controlled in the center midfield and played Johnson out wide right. Johnson then sent in a low, inswinging cross in for Enstrom, who slotted it in under BU substitute goaltender Bjorn Kammholz
GAME NOTES
- With four goals in each of its first two games, this is the first time BC has scored at least four goals in back-to-back games since 2006 when the Eagles topped Quinnipiac 5-1 and NC State 5-1 on Sept. 26 and 29, respectively
- The last time BC opened the season with back-to-back defensive shutouts was 1978 – a 2-0 win over Stonehill and a 2-0 win at Nichols
- Callum Johnson matched his single-game best with three points with his second long-range goal in as many games and his assist on Simon Enstrom's goal … Johnson had three goals in 20 games as a freshman in 2016
- Younes Boudadi recorded his second and third assists of the season tonight after going pointless as a freshman in 2016 … his two helpers set his new single-game bests for assist and points
- Nikita Bondar netted his first career goal with his first-half tally … he is the first newcomer to score a goal for BC this season … he now has three points (one goal, one assist) in two games
- With his successful penalty, Tomas Gudmundsson scored his first goal at Boston College … his last goal came on Oct. 17, 2015 – the game-winning goal for Coastal Carolina against Liberty
- Simon Enstrom netted his second goal in as many games tonight and now has half his 2016 sophomore goal total (four goals) in the first weekend of play
- Beto Luna collected his first career point with his set up of Bondar's goal midway through the first half
- The Eagles made one change to the line up from Friday's victory over Quinnipiac: Luna – making his first career start – came on for Lasse Lehmann, who later started the second half
- For the second straight game, Jack Bacon started in goal and yielded to Antonio Chavez Borrelli at the half
- Jose Palomo and Ian Buehler both made their collegiate debuts, coming on as late second-half substitutes
