Cortens, Covington, Kordell Swim Personal Best Times

The Eagles faced rival Boston University on Saturday. Despite the tough loss for BC, there were many personal best times and incredible races that came down to the tenth of a second. For the men, the meet was decided by the final event – the 200 yd. freestyle relay. BC had trailed BU 144-138 and needed to win the relay in order to win the meet. Despite a terrific swim, the Eagles were edged by the Terriers by .86 seconds. The men lost the meet, 155-144, while the women fell, 177-118.

This was the final dual meet of the season, and for the seniors, the final dual meet of their career.

Cole Malatesta won the 3M (342.95) and the 1M (311.85).
Jack McCarthy placed second in the 3M (288.82) and third in the 1M (262.27).
Taylor Cortens swam his lifetime best in the 200 yd. breaststroke with a time of 2:02.83, which is also the second fastest time in BC Swimming history for this event.
Colin Derdeyn won the 50 yd. freestyle (20.97) and took second in the 100 yd. butterfly (50.56).
Anthony Richardson won the 500 yd. freestyle (4:33.60) and took second in the 200 yd. freestyle (1:39.53).
Senior captains Conor Chamness and Josh Williams took first and second, respectively, in the 100 yd. backstroke clocking in at 51.81 and 52.56.
Cecilia O'Rielly placed third in the 1M (243.00) and Gabbi Taghian placed third in the 3M (237.37).
Madeline Mailliard won the 200 yd. backstroke with a time of 2:06.87.
Taylor Covington won the 100 yd. breaststroke with a lifetime best time of 1:05.58.
Senior captain Abigail Kordell took second in the 200 yd. breaststroke with a lifetime best time of 2:22.14

Next up: The Eagles will travel to Storrs to compete at the Husky Open on Saturday, Feb. 4.
